  • SUPPORT LOCAL

All products and materials used to create my work is locally sourced from businesses residing in Oxford County, Canada.

  • CAPTURING INSPIRATION

I'm a Canadian landscape lover. My love for travel and view on the world shows itself in the freedom of my work.

Every opportunity is an adventure. I love hiking across Canada and using my photography as inspiration for my original artwork.

I went through school with some art displayed in local galleries. I taught children science and art in Toronto and learned about the vibrancy of life and learning. I brought that same passion and care to my art as I do in my life.

Painting to me is the ultimate form of self expression. It's my place to play and create. I feel very special to be able to share my art with you.

    PLANNING AND THUMBNAILS

I plan out my paintings while drawing in sketchbooks to see what size on canvas will work best with my idea.

Here I play with visual balance and plan which colors, textures, compositions and techniques to use in the creation of my next art piece.

    BUILD MY CANVAS

I purchase local raw pine wood, canvas and gesso from local art stores which I use to create my canvases and frames for my paintings.

Each canvas is measured to 90 degrees to ensure straight corners. I sand the painting side of the wood frame (where the canvas will sit) for a smooth finish.

I stretch the canvas with a customizable stretching bar using linen for it’s strength and durability. This is a high quality grade canvas that I enjoy due to it’s reliability.

I paint two coats of artistic studio gesso to prime the canvas.

    PAINTING

I incorporate a fluid abstract expressionist method of painting called "Acrylic Pouring" to each piece I create. I add oils to specific colors to allow the different densities of paints to actually float above heavier pigments which create cells and bubbles in the painting. I build up paintings in multiple layers which give my work a glossy thick textured finish.

This unpredictable fluid technique creates stunning original patterns. It's difficulty and challenges brings me great joy while creating my works.

I mix my heavy bodied acrylic paints with a paint conditioner called floetrol and an acrylic liquitex pouring medium. I take great care and planning and pouring in calculated layers. The pouring medium is applied very thick-I torch it with a butane torch to pop air pockets and create cells. After 3 days of drying I will, depending on the artwork, detail over the pour with a fine brush.

    VARNISH

After the artwork is completed I will varnish the painting twice with high gloss liquitex professional grade quality.

    BUILD IT’S FRAME

I handmake my own floating frames for most of my paintings and choose a stain color that completes the piece as a whole. I craft it's frame and spend an hour or so sanding and finishing the wood.

After the stain is dry I will attach the painting and attach the self fastening saw tooth hanger.

    PHOTOGRAPH AND EDIT

Before I share my new painting with you I will photograph my art using a cannon EOS M200 camera and it’s professional software to properly capture it’s raw high resolution photo, edit the picture to match the painting’s best representation and export it as a jpeg for sharing purposes.

  • At this time I do not make prints of any original paintings.

If you would like to commission original reproductions made of past or current work, I am able to do so.

Please reach out with any type of inquiry- I will happily recreate a piece for you. I will add color accents, change dimensions and stain the frame to match your personal vision.
